Jessica Quick joined the 5 On Your Side weather team in March 2016 after spending more than three years down I-70 in mid-Missouri.
Jessica was born and raised in central Illinois, where she had her first experiences with Midwest weather in a rural setting. Her fear of thunderstorms as a child eventually grew into a curiosity and passion that drove her interest into becoming a meteorologist.
She earned a B.S. in meteorology from Northern Illinois University and certificate in GIS in 2012. While at NIU, Jessica storm-chased with the College of DuPage in 2011, and interned at the National Weather Service in Lincoln, Illinois that same summer. She was also a student-athlete; competing on the school's NCAA Division I track and cross country teams all four years of her tenure.
Following graduation, Jessica caught the TV bug after completing an internship at WICS Newschannel 20 in Springfield, Illinois and from there landed her first job at KRCG-TV in Jefferson City, where she was the weekend meteorologist and weekday reporter until early 2014.
In February 2014, she jumped at the chance to gain more experience doing weather five days a week at the ABC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri. In addition to covering multiple severe weather and winter weather events at ABC 17 News, Jessica also served as the station's digital content director.
Jessica holds the AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal and has been a member of the American Meteorological Society since 2010. She's excited to be closer to home and family, and explore everything the gateway city has to offer!
