Fish 'N Chips food truck rolls into St. Louis for Lent

A food truck that will only be serving fish 'n chips during Lent

A popular french fry food truck is turning into a fish 'n chips truck every Friday during Lent.

"Same name, same truck, same fries, just throwing fried cod onto it," said Matt Borchardt.

Matt owns Essentially Fries and also runs the market and cafe Edibles and Essentials on Hampton Avenue.

"We did fish 'n chips out of the restaurant during Lent. It was overwhelmingly successful and we needed an extra fryer and we thought we have that here. We thought we'd just park it here and just do it right out of the food truck," Matt said.

So for the next 7 Fridays between 5 and 9 PM, you can find the truck outside Edibles and Essentials.

"People can come up to the window and take 'em home or come in the restaurant and come in and eat," he said.

For $12 a plate, you'll get two cod filets.

"It's beer battered with good ol' PBR, dropped in a fryer and served cajun remoulade, smoked ketchup and malt vinegar," he said.

That fish comes with a heaping portion of French fries.

"They're just wonderful fries, people go crazy for 'em," he said.

As popular as Matt expects the fish 'n chip truck to be during Lent, it wont be hitting the street year-round.

"Not at this point, the fry truck is all we can handle but maybe we'll put a little plastic banner over it sometimes and change the concept," he said.

Enjoy the fish 'n chip truck while it lasts.
