ST. LOUIS — For decades, a Federal Law prohibited states from legalizing gambling on sports. Last May, the Supreme Court overturned that portion of the law as an unconstitutional “commandeering” of states’ rights to pass their own laws.
Andy Crouppen of Brown & Crouppen gave us some insight on this topic. When it comes to the office Super Bowl pool, it’s technically illegal. When the states do start regulating this, they will most likely start with places like the casinos. As for the office gambling, it’s not a huge offense, but it’s definitely not encouraged.
