Rocking out with School of Rock at The Fabulous Fox

Kids in School of Rock put on an A plus performance

It's not a big yellow bus and these aren't you're average students. They're the stars of School of Rock The Musical.

"So you guys can we go to our spots and let's walk through this a little bit," Larry Smiglewski, the Production Stage Manager, instructs the kids.

16 talented kids between the ages of 9 and 13 he has to occasionally corral.

"Alright shall we do this?"

Despite their age, they are true professionals. Actors, singers and many of them musicians.

"They're are some people that think we're not actually playing but we are actually playing," Phoenix Schuman says.

He plays Zack the cool guitarist.

"Yeah my dad started teaching me when I was 8 and I've been playing ever since."

Theo Mitchell-Penner is Lawrence the guy on keys.

"Before I learned other instruments my mom wanted me to take piano and once I was in it, I really wanted to stick with it so here I am now."

Theodora Silverman straps on the bass as Katie.

"I started playing the bass when I was on the 'Once' tour and I was about 8 and half years old."

And Gilberto Moretti-Hamilton plays Freddy, the drummer.

"They're my favorite you don't learn notes that much you just bang on it, it's so easy."

They all make playing an instrument look easy in a show all ages will enjoy.

"It's just a fun show you cause you just got to rock out, the audience claps, they stand up and rock out with us it's just so much fun," Theodora says.

The story follows Dewy, a wannabe rock star posing as a substitute teacher as he turns these A students into Rock Gods.

Of course they are kids and they still have to go to school.

"Yeah for at least five hours each day so we're all pretty tired," Theodora points out.

"Actually the hardest part is on two show days. We have a matinee and an evening show," Phoenix adds

It's a job they do flawlessly and while they're at slip in a few valuable lessons.

"I would say the main one is parents listen to your kids," Phoenix says.

So don't skip School of Rock because these kids put on an A plus performance.
