St. Louis native Karlie Kloss expands coding camp for girls

'Kode With Klossy,' is expanding its reach from 15 camps in 12 cities to 50 camps in 25 cities across the country in 2018.

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis native, model, entrepreneur and founder Karlie Kloss announced the launch for the 2018 summer season of ‘Kode With Klossy’ camps. This year, she's bringing the program to 1,000 girls.

The program launched in 2015 to empower girls to learn to code and become leaders in tech. It’s a two-week summer coding program where girls ages 13 to 18 explore concepts in front-end and back-end software engineering.

‘Kode With Klossy,’ is expanding its reach from 15 camps in 12 cities to 50 camps in 25 cities across the country in 2018.

The program partnered with Teach For America to recruit and hire the 50 instructors who will lead camps this summer.

“What we do at Kode With Klossy goes beyond teaching computer science—we empower our scholars to use their coding skills to make a difference in their communities,” said Kode With Klossy founder, Karlie Kloss. “We are excited to partner with Teach For America this year to create collaborative and creative learning environments where our scholars not only learn code, but build self-confidence, teamwork and communication skills. I am so unbelievably proud of our growing community and very excited to welcome 1,000 girls this summer.”

‘Kode With Klossy’ camps will be coming to the following cities: Albuquerque, Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Buffalo, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, Nashville, New Orleans, New York City, Omaha, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, Raleigh-Durham, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis and Tulsa.
