“My dad died 10 days after my first wedding. I was in Mexico on my honeymoon when he was taken from this world. In the nearly 10 years he's been gone, he's missed so much. He's missed the birth of ALL of his grandchildren, he wasn't here to help me through my first divorce, he wasn't here to meet the man that I call best friend and husband now, he didn't get to see me graduate with both of my bachelor's degrees or my master's degree. It seems like a lifetime ago while at the same time only being a moment ago that he was taken,” Cannon wrote on her website.

She opened up the application process on her dad’s 63rd birthday on August 8.

“I can only imagine what he would have wanted to do. I know that I would have wanted to celebrate with him, to show him how much he means to so many people,” Cannon said on Facebook.

Cannon said she got the idea from another photographer in New York who also lost a parent.

“Erica Leman of @Sweet Alice Photography - Hudson Valley Wedding + Portrait Photographer was gracious enough to let me use her idea and I can't thank her enough for the support and coming up with something truly remarkable. Thank you!”

Applications close on September 8. For more information, click here.
