ST. LOUIS — It was no joke! A St. Louis man happened to win $100,000 on a scratchers ticket on April Fools' Day.

Danny Yount decided to buy a “Hot Hot Cash” scratchers ticket after the person in line before him bought the same one. His decision turned out to be a good choice as he won the first of the game’s four $100,000 top prizes.

When Yount called his girlfriend to tell her the good news, she didn’t believe him at first.

“She thought I was joking since I happened to win on April Fools’ Day,” he said.

He bought the winning ticket at Circle K located at 3294 Telegraph Road in St. Louis. The game has more than $12.5 million in unclaimed prizes, including three additional $100,000 top prizes, according to a press release.
