2 charged after police chase in O'Fallon

O'FALLON, Mo. – Two people are facing charges after O'Fallon, Missouri, police said they were led on a chase by a stolen car Wednesday evening.

John Nenninger and Alesha Schmidt, both 35, were charged in connection with the pursuit.

Police said they were called to the 1700 block of Koch Road at around 5:30 to investigate a theft. When they arrived, two people inside a car stolen in St. Louis County drove directly at one of the officers before speeding off.

Police followed them until the chase ended near the intersection of Feise and Bryan Roads, where Nenninger and Schmidt were taken into custody.

Nenninger was charged with first-degree assault or attempted assault, resisting arrest by fleeing creating a substantial risk of injury and tampering with a motor vehicle. His bond was set at $50,000.

Schmidt was charged with second-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. Her bond was set at $2,500.
