Two people were killed and three others were injured in a Sunday afternoon shooting incident in Old North St. Louis.
Police were called to an apartment building on the 1900 block of North 14th around 12:30 p.m. where two women were shot. While on the scene, police heard gunshots from another apartment building next door.
When officers tried to talk to someone inside the second building, they did not get a response, so hostage negotiators were called in.
Police called the situation a standoff but never made contact with anyone inside the apartment. When it was finally ruled safe to enter, police found three other shooting victims inside. A female victim and male were pronounced dead on the scene and another female victim was rushed to a hospital. Police believe the male who died was the shooter.
Sgt. Brian McGlynn with St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's homicide division said the victims range in age from 14 to 40. He said the victims all seem to have relationships with each other, but police do not yet know how.
McGlynn said they do not have any witnesses.
The investigation is ongoing. This story will be updated when more information becomes available.
