JENNINGS, Mo. – Police are investigating after a man was found shot to death in Jennings Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the intersection of Jennings Station Road and Lewis and Clark Road around 9:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting. Jeremy Edwards, 27, was found with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said the Edwards' pickup truck was also parked at the intersection. They believe the Edwards was targeted by the gunman.

According to investigators, Edwards may have had an altercation with another vehicle before he was shot and killed. Friends of the Edwards told 5 On Your Side he had just left a graduation celebration for his son when he was shot to death.

"He has a family. I don't know what the cause is or what happened, but he belongs. He has a family," Lola Conner said.

Conner, who watched police collect evidence at the crime scene, called the shooting a disgrace to her community.

"This is just senseless killings. We got to put the guns down. Give our kids a chance to live," Conner said.

Conner said her community is shaken by this tragedy. She said the brazen killing has sparked fear among her family.

"I fear for my grandkids to live here anymore and all of that. I don't think they will have a good life living here," Conner said. “They wouldn't’t be able to make her anymore. It’s just out of hand.”

Police say they do have surveillance video of the crime and hope to release photos of the suspect's car.
