3 arrested in late night multi-highway police pursuit

ST. ANN, Mo. — A police pursuit which began following a hefty theft inside of a grocery store ended with a crashed car along Interstate 170.

According to St. Ann police, four individuals entered the Shop 'n Save in St. Ann around 11:30 p.m. Monday and proceeded to steal over $200 worth of alcohol and meats. Shoppers called the police to notify them of theft while the four people continued to steal various goods.

While they were leaving, the four suspects spotted police as they were exiting the parking lot and quickly sped away. The officers began pursuit with the car, which was later discovered to have been stolen. Their chase led to eastbound I-70, then onto northbound I-170, and reached speeds around 100 miles-per-hour.

The pursuit ended just short of southbound Interstate 270 near Florissant. Three of the four suspects, which ranged in age from 18 to 20-years-old, were placed into custody.

Police said the driver of the vehicle, possibly a man in his 20s, ran away from the scene on foot. He was believed to have run into a backyard of a nearby house. A K9 dog was used to pick up the suspect's scent, but he not been found.

The car was stolen from St. Louis city. Police could not confirm when it was reported as stolen.
