St. Louis police are investigating after a man robbed a popular business on Washington Avenue Monday night.

The suspect went into Pi Pizzeria just after 11 p.m. through the east side doors and tried to go into a closed office door when he was confronted by an employee. He flashed a firearm and ordered an employee to open the safe.

The employee opened the safe and the suspect fled after getting away with an unknown amount of money.

Police describe the man as heavy build, 5’6”-5’9” and he was wearing a white cut-off t-shirt, light colored athletic shorts, sunglasses and white socks with no shoes.

He fled in an unknown direction.
