ST. LOUIS – A father of five was shot in the back of the head twice more than four years ago. One bullet went through his eye, and fragments of the other bullet were left lodged in his head, but he's still alive to speak about it.
He’s sharing his frustrations with 5 On Your Side in an effort to seek justice. Larry Higgins is now confined to a wheelchair. The once happy-go-lucky and funny guy, as his brother describes him, is now often depressed.
His life took a dramatic change the night of Aug. 9, 2014. Higgins said he was in a liquor store near North Newstead and Labadie, when two guys came into the store and shouted for everyone to leave. Higgins initially refused to go, but when he did leave, he was shot twice in the back of the head.
He says he only remembers waking up in the hospital after the shooting. Now, he can’t walk, run or play with his kids like he used to and has slurred speech. Police are actively investigating the case, but they have not identified a motive or any suspects.
