Man dies after showing up at Metro East hotel with gunshot wound

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. — An investigation is underway after a shooting victim showed up at a Metro East hotel Sunday night.

According to the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, the Collinsville Police Department responded to the Hampton Inn in Collinsville after an employee called and said there was a man who arrived at the hotel with a gunshot wound.

Officers arrived and transported the man to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

He’s been identified as 23-year-old Devin T. Judd of Lenzburg, Illinois.

It’s unclear where the man was shot.

A spokesperson for the Major Case told 5 On Your Side that there is an active police investigation at Parkside Apartments in Granite City in connection to the shooting investigation. There is no danger or threat to the public, the spokesperson said.

According to a press release from the Major Case Squad, there are approximately 20 investigators assigned to the case.
