A Missouri man who pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor in May was sentenced to life in prison Thursday.

Marcus Dewayne Thompson, 28, pleaded guilty to one count of sex trafficking of a minor and one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of a minor in Federal Court in May, and was sentenced onThursday, a press release from the Department of Justice said.

According to the release, court proceedings revealed that Thompson ran a business with his wife which involved recruiting, transporting and advertising a girl from Illinois for commercial sex acts in Florida, Georgia and Louisiana.

The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Daniel T. Kapsak and Monica A. Stump.
