ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. - An O'Fallon, Missouri, mom is facing child endangerment charges after police said she became too drunk and had her 13-year-old son drive her and three other children home last month.
Stacy D. Helton, 39, was charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the incident that happened on Sept. 10.
Charging documents said she "acted in a manner that created substantial risk" to the children by getting so intoxicated that she let her 13-year-old son drive.
The four charges each carry a punishment of up to one year in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
