A man was charged Monday in connection with two weekend robberies in Alton, Illinois.
A press release from the Alton, Illinois, Police Department said Richard Jones, of Alton, was responsible for two robberies and was taken into custody a short time after the incidents.
The press release said the first robbery was on the parking lot of a Walgreen's on the 1600 block of Washington Avenue at around 8:30 Friday night. The victim told police a man robbed her at gunpoint as she got out her car and walked toward the store.
Then, a few hours later, two people were robbed near the intersection of Belle and West 4th Streets, about three miles from the first incident, also at gunpoint.
Soon after, police tracked down Jones, who was driving away from the area. He was pulled over and identified as the suspect. He was taken into custody, and investigation linked him to both robberies.
He was charged with three counts of aggravated robbery, and is being held on $65,000 bond.
