Tear gas forces suspects out of Madison County home

No one was injured, and the suspects have not been charged yet.

MADISON COUNTY, Ill. — Police were able to end a standoff at a Madison County home Thursday afternoon.

A SWAT team shot tear gas into the house on Second Street in Cottage Hills late Thursday afternoon.

Police said five people wanted in connection with a home invasion were trying to hide in the home. Police were also worried they were holding a woman and child hostage inside the home. The woman and child were able to get out safely.

The standoff lasted for several hours.

No one was injured, and the suspects have not been charged yet.
