Woman attacked while walking dog in Shaw neighborhood

ST. LOUIS — A woman was attacked while walking her dog in St. Louis’ Shaw neighborhood last week.

Prather Alexander is facing one count of fourth-degree assault in connection to the attack.

According to court documents, on Nov. 14, the woman was walking her dog in the 4200 block of Flora Place when Alexander approached her and started talking to her. She said Alexander was speaking incoherently and fearing for her safety, she started to back up and that’s when she tripped and fell.

Once on the ground, Alexander got on top of her and hit her head. Police said the woman had discolored skin and swelling on her left cheek after the attack.
