'Exercise is key to healthy lifestyle' | St. Louis County gyms, fitness centers reopen

June 15 is the first day gyms and fitness centers can reopen in the county

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — St. Louis County Executive Sam Page held a briefing on the first day of gyms and fitness centers reopening in the county.

Page held the briefing at Club Fitness in Maplewood.

He was joined by the CEO of Club Fitness.

“Exercise is key to healthy lifestyle,” Club Fitness CEO Eric Schreimann said.

Schreimann said all of Club Fitness' clubs have been updated with the latest cleaning technology. Each employee will be screened upon arrival, wear face masks and wash hands frequently. Customers will also be screened and there will be a touch-less entry system.

“What they’ve done here is impressive,” Page said of Club Fitness.

Major changes include: Group fitness classes must be limited in size and cannot exceed 25% of a room’s capacity and participants must be separated by at least 6 to 8 feet while exercising. There can be no shared equipment during the class.
