2 former Metro East USPS workers charged after hiding and stealing mail

Burrage and Brawley face up to five years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000.

ST. LOUIS – A federal grand jury in southern Illinois indicted two former postal workers on Wednesday in two separate incidents.

22-year-old Briana Burrage of Belleville, Illinois was charged with unlawful delay of mail while working at a Belleville post office in September of 2017. According to the indictment, Burrage didn’t deliver thousands of pieces of mail and put them in trash bags in her personal car for several weeks.

36-year-old Amber Brawley of Godfrey, Illinois was charged with theft and embezzlement of mail while working at a Godfrey post office. In August of 2017, Brawley allegedly stole items from mail and conversated the contents of the mail for her own use.

Burrage and Brawley face up to five years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000.
