Two St. Louis area restaurants were honored at The James Beard Awards Monday night.

The awards were held in Chicago.

Gioia’s Deli is St. Louis’ first America’s Classic winner. Owners, Alex and Amanda Donley attended the gala in Chicago Monday night.

Gioia’s Deli and Gioia’s food truck are owned and operated by Alex and Amanda.

Sidney Street Café owner and chef Kevin Nashan took home the “Best Chef: Midwest” award.

The James Beard Foundation’s mission is to celebrate, nurture, and honor chefs and other leaders making America’s food culture more delicious, diverse, and sustainable for everyone.
