3 injured in central Illinois shooting, gunman in hospital after shooting self

TAYLORVILLE, Ill. – A suspect in an Illinois triple shooting is in custody after shooting himself.

Police said Lee Wayne Kennedy was in at least serious condition after shooting himself in the face, according to Central Illinois NBC station WAND. He is being treated at a hospital in Springfield.

Kennedy was wanted in connection with a triple shooting that injured a teenager and two others. Police said it was a domestic incident.

Around 5 a.m., officers responded to the 500 block of South Walnut where they found three people, including a 13-year-old with gunshot wounds. All three were transported to hospitals.

The Christian County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, the Illinois State Police and several other outside agencies are assisted with the investigation.

Taylorville is located about an hour and a half from St. Louis.
