A committee of St. Louis aldermen advanced $65 million in subsidies Wednesday for phase 2 of Ballpark Village.

The committee voted 8-1 to advance the plan to the full board of aldermen. The new subsidies agreement is $15 million more than the original development in 2012, but the Cardinals and Cordish Companies argued that the second phase is larger than they originally planned.

The subsidies will come from multiple areas, including tax increment financing and the state of Missouri.

The proposed plans call for 550,000-square-feet of new construction along Clark Street, including a 29-story apartment tower, retail shops, entertainment space, and the first new "Class A" office building in downtown since the 1980's.
