Brother and sister carjacked by 4 gunmen in south St. Louis County

"Four people hopped out of the car with small pistols and just rushed us and put guns through both windows," Jason Reeves said.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY – A brother and sister said they are lucky to be alive after they tried to fight off four armed carjackers in south St. Louis County.

They said they always felt safe in their neighborhood until just a couple of nights ago when they were staring down the barrel of a gun at the brother’s apartment in the Villa Roma complex off Interstate 55.

"Four people hopped out of the car with small pistols and just rushed us and put guns through both windows,” Jason Reeves said.

He and his older sister Heather didn't know what to do.

"I’m a little bossy. He put his gun in my face and asked me to get out of the car. And I told him I can’t get out of the car, and get your gun out of my face,” Heather said.

She says the gunmen were so young, she didn't take them seriously at first.

"He was probably no older than my child,” Heather said. Her son is 17-years-old.

But the threat was real.

"The first gun went around my neck here and the second guy put the gun to my head and pulled me out of the car,” Jason said.

The group of guys ordered them to the ground, stole all that they had on them and took Heather's SUV, too.

"We're jumping through hoops filing insurance claims, trying to get drivers licenses back, everything. They took everything,” Jason said.

They say the midnight encounter Wednesday morning lasted a minute and a half.

But it's the hours since that have been torture.

"It's just worse the days after. You just realize how bad it could have been,” Heather said.

Some of Heather's belongings have been found scattered all over St. Louis County. Someone found her phone in north county, and police found her car with a flat tire ditched on the side of the road in Richmond Heights. It's in the repair shop, but she will eventually get it back.

The carjackers are still on the loose.
