See the best value colleges in Missouri, Illinois

The best value college in the state of Missouri again this year is Missouri University of Science & Technology, according to a new ranking from Smartasset. The college ranked 17th nationally, down from its No. 7 spot in 2017.

Tuition at Missouri S&T is $9,048, which reflects in-state tuition for residents. Students at Missouri S&T fork up an additional $12,650 for living costs, the data said. It pays off though because the average starting salary for Missouri S&T graduates is $65,200, Smartasset said.

In Illinois, the best value college is the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which charges tuition of $15,054 per year, the data said. Urbana-Champaign graduates receive an average starting salary of $58,600, Smartasset said.
