Carjacking suspect fatally shot by 4 officers after he shot at them in the parking lot of a north St. Louis Schnucks

On Wednesday, police identified him as 22-year-old Quency Chavez Floyd.

ST. LOUIS — A man died at the hospital after being shot by St. Louis police following a carjacking in north St. Louis Tuesday morning.

The carjacking occurred around 11 a.m. in the 5500 block of Cabanne. The victim told police he was cleaning the snow off the top of his car when the suspect ran up to him with a gun and demanded he step away from his car. Police spotted the stolen car around 3 p.m. heading east on Natural Bridge.

The man in the stolen car went into the Schnucks and came out 10 minutes later where he was confronted by undercover police officers.

He ran from the officers toward the end of the parking lot and fired a shot at the four officers. The officers returned fire and the suspect was struck in the torso. No officers were injured.

He was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries. On Wednesday, police identified him as 22-year-old Quency Chavez Floyd.
