There was a large police presence in downtown St. Louis on Wednesday afternoon outside the civil courts building after a disturbance in the building moved out onto the street.
Officers were called to the intersection of Market and N. Tucker to respond to the courthouse fight. They took two suspects into custody.
Police said the two men were attending a trial in the courtroom when the judge ordered them out. When they got outside, an argument broke out between the men to the point that one of the men threatened to get his gun from his car and shoot the other man. Both men drove off in their cars but returned to the scene, where they were taken into custody by police.
A gun was found in one man's car and suspected drugs were found in the other man's car.
A crowd gathered around the intersection and misinformation spread quickly online as the city nervously awaits a judgment in the Jason Stockley murder trial. The court has not announced when that judgment will come down, but activists are promising extensive protests if a ruling is not made soon.
