CRESTWOOD, Mo. – A Crestwood police officer is recovering after crashing head-on with a suspect Sunday morning.
According to police, the officer was struck in a head-on collision with a suspect who had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.
“It is our belief that the suspect thought he was being pursued, and upon seeing a police car coming toward him in the opposite lane of traffic, directed his vehicle for a head-on collision with our officer,” Crestwood police said on Facebook.
The suspect was taken into custody following the collision and charges will be forwarded to the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office.
The officer was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released.
No other information has been provided.
