A local food pantry that had to turn away veterans will now be back open, thanks to a huge community effort.

About 30,000 pounds of food back are now on the shelves.

The Jefferson Barracks Food Pantry didn't have enough food to stay open as of Oct. 22. However, they will be back open Saturday, thanks to all of the heartwarming donations.

On Your Toes Dance Studio, The Stonecrest at Clayton View, Realty Executives of St. Louis, Affton Elks Lodge and Goff-Moll American Legion have been collecting donations for the Jefferson Barracks Food Pantry.

Their great contributions will allow the food pantry to stay open at least through the rest of this month. The food pantry currently serves up to 2,500 military families and that's up by 30 percent compared to 2014.
