Driver ‘blinded by the sun’ hits school bus in north St. Louis

Five students on the bus were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, two of the students refused medical treatment and were picked up by their parents.

ST. LOUIS – A school bus carrying five students was hit by a car in north St. Louis Friday morning. The bus was on its way to Pamoja Preparatory Academy at Cole.

The driver of the red car, an off-duty city paramedic, told officials he was ‘blinded by the sun’ when he struck the school bus. The crash occurred at Bishop P L Scott Avenue and St. Louis Avenue.

Five students on the bus were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, two of the students refused medical treatment and were picked up by their parents. The ages of the students on the bus have not been released.

Two adults at the scene refused medical attention.
