ST. LOUIS – Teams of future business leaders competed today for some serious scholarships.

Dozens of high school Junior Achievement students from across our area created business plans. Those plans were judged by a panel at Fontbonne University.

The Junior Achievement program takes students through the entire business process, from conception and marketing to sales and annual reports.

"If we're looking for reasons to be hopeful, these young people in the room behind me are a reason for hope," said Fontbonne University President Mike Pressimone. "Because these are the people who are going to be running our country in the future."

The Rockwood Summit High School team took first place. Each member won a $5,000 renewable scholarship to Fontbonne University.

Teams from Marquette High School took second and third place, winning $3,000 and $1,000 scholarships.
