The unrest in Ferguson that rocked the community two years ago has local businesses playing catch up to meet their bottom line. Businesses are hoping for a big boost in sales this holiday weekend.

Ferguson Mayor James Knowles III says local business owners have made a big come back since the all of the unrest, but it's still been an uphill battle.

He says still some business owners spent tens of thousands of dollars for many, many months to try and maintain their businesses, so they're playing catchup.

Knowles is encouraging people to come out to Ferguson's annual holiday celebration, Northern Lights, to support the community. The event starts Sunday at 2 p.m.
