A blast of cold air settled into the bi-state and much of the Midwest last night, with blustery northwest winds making it feel like the 30s Friday afternoon.
The chilly air will stick around for the weekend, bringing the coldest temperatures of the season so far to St. Louis and the surrounding areas.
A hard freeze is likely for many areas west of St. Louis tonight, as skies begin to clear and the winds die down. A Freeze Warning is in effect late tonight into Saturday morning for counties well west of St. Louis into Mid-Missouri.
The entire bi-state including the St. Louis metro area will go under a Freeze Warning through Sunday morning starting tomorrow night. Temperatures are expected to drop near or just below 32° in the city, and dip into the upper 20s under a clear sky in the outlying areas.
Frost can damage or kill sensitive plants, so those should be brought in Friday night before bed.
Temperatures gradually warm early next week, but we'll still have a few nights in the mid-upper 30s.
