ST. LOUIS – Excessive heat continues throughout the bi-state area.

The 5 On Your Side weather team said heat index temperatures will range from 104 to 110 degrees Thursday and Friday afternoon and humidity will keep the heat index in the 100 to 106-degree range on Saturday.

Here’s how fast temperatures can rise in a car, according to the American Meteorological Society

On July 18 the temperature will reach 97 degrees

If in the shade - the interior of a car will reach 104 degrees after five minutes, after 10 minutes it’ll reach 109.4 degrees, after 30 minutes it’ll reach 125.6 degrees and after an hour it’ll reach 143.6 degrees. These temperatures can feel up to 15 degrees warmer if in direct sunlight.
