HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - Those placing bets at Oaklawn on Saturday may have caught a glimpse of a last-minute entry.

Rudy Roo Roo The Kangaroo was seen running loose as people were getting seated for the first race, leading Oaklawn staff on a wild chase around the track.

The kangaroo was said to have been with his handler, Janice Cockrill with the Cockrill's Country Critters Mobile Petting Zoo & Pony Rides, when he broke away and decided to stretch his legs out on the racetrack.

No one was reportedly hurt or ever in danger. However, Cockrill told THV11 that "Rudy Roo Roo is grounded."

Janice Cockrill, owner of Rudy Roo The Kangaroo, responded to our story about Rudy getting loose at Oaklawn with a preview of what happened before he went rogue.
