Homeless advocates took new steps to help the homeless in St. Louis.

Thursday, the Rev. Larry Rice handed out hundreds of bus tickets at St. Louis City Hall. Rice said since the city of St. Louis shut down his New Life Evangelistic Center last month, many homeless people have no place to go.

"We're facing a critical situation in the city of St. Louis. The city wants to stop sheltering the homeless at 12th and Park; they're gonna [sic] stop that in a few days," said Reverend Rice. "They're gonna [sic] stop the extension they have off the Biddle House.

Rice hopes the tickets will help the homeless get to jobs or doctor's appointments, and some may ride the bus all night.

"These homeless people have nowhere to go and they're being harassed on the streets in the city of St. Louis," said Rice.
