'I just want justice' | Family offers reward to find hit-and-run driver

"I'm taking care of my brother because he's gone and somebody's got to do this."

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department officers are now searching for a second car, that struck and killed a man crossing the street, in St. Louis. It happened March 8 at the intersection of North Florissant Avenue and Sullivan Avenue.

Originally, investigators were hoping to find the driver of a tan Buick La Sabre. Witnesses told police, the La Sabre was occupied by three black males when the car struck Dennis White. The Buick possibly has front end damage and a missing side mirror.

The second vehicle, a black sedan, drove over White as he laid in the street. Both cars fled the scene.

The family of Dennis White was initially sad, they now say they’re angry that no arrests have been made.

“I just want justice, I just really want justice,” said Christopher White, Dennis’s brother.

Christopher visited the deadly intersection for the first time Thursday. His emotions became just as raw, as the day of the crash.

“To see him go down like this, I’m deeply hurt,” he said. “We stuck together, my sisters and brothers were tight.”

Christopher and Dennis were two of ten children that grew up in Warrenton, Missouri. He feels like finding who did this falls on his shoulders.

“I’m taking care of my brother because he’s gone and somebody’s got to do this,” said Christopher.

So, he’s using $1,000 of his own money, as a reward to anyone who comes forward with information that could lead to the arrest of the driver.

“If it t was your mother or sister or brother you’d be wanting somebody to find out who hit [your] family so that’s what I’m looking for right now. I want the person to step up and do the right thing,” he said.

He also hopes changes will be made to the intersection so that other families won’t ever feel this pain again.

“They need to put stop lights, stop signs all around here, to stop people from being killed here. That’s what needs to be done here,” said Christopher.
