Lanes near Shrewsbury on I-44 to close for rest of the year

The Missouri Department of Transportation will close lanes starting Wednesday.
All lanes of Interstate 44 will be shut down this weekend, according to MoDOT.

UPDATE: Due to rain projected for Monday, MoDOT has delayed the closure until Wednesday, March 7 around 6 a.m.

ST. LOUIS - The Missouri Department of Transportation will close lanes on Interstate 44 starting on Wednesday, March 7 until the end of the year.

Two westbound lanes on I-44 between Jamieson and Shrewsbury will be closed.

Crews will also close an extra lane on westbound I-44 between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday through Friday.

On March 9, crews will close the ramp from Shrewsbury to eastbound I-44 and one lane on eastbound I-44.

To avoid ramp closure, drivers can access eastbound I-44 at Arsenal. The westbound ramp at Shrewsbury will not be affected.

MoDOT advises drivers to have alternate routes, carpool, shift commute time if possible to avoid traffic.

All lanes will reopen in December 2018.
