Loop Trolley experiences another delay, needs $500,000

The project is on hold indefinitely.
A second rendering of what the finished project will look like.

ST. LOUIS — Once again, the Loop Trolley project had been delayed. This time, however, the project seems to be flat broke.

The $51 million Loop Trolley project was initially planned to begin operation to the public last summer, but through multiple push-backs and delays later, The Loop still has no functioning trolley.

Friday, The Loop Trolley Company, a nonprofit firm, reported to St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger and St. Louis City Mayor Lyda Krewson that the firm needs to find an additional $500,000 for start-up costs and various operating deficits.

The project is on hold indefinitely.

5 On Your Side reached out to Joe Edwards, a business owner who said the Loop Trolley has been his brainchild for close to a decade. We also reached out to the Loop Trolley company for a comment, but have not yet heard back.
