A motorcycle driver was killed and his passenger is in critical condition after a truck pulled out in front of his vehicle on the great river road Monday afternoon, Illinois State Police said Monday.
According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, Keith Berry, 58, was riding on the great river road with a woman at around 1 p.m. As they were riding past Lockhaven Road in Godfrey, Illinois, a truck pulled out in front of them, resulting in a crash.
Berry and his passenger were thrown from the motorcycle. Berry was pronounced dead on the scene, and his passenger was airlifted to the hospital where she is in critical condition.
The driver of the truck was charged with failure to yield at an intersection.
The crash closed the northbound lanes for about three hours for investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
