KSDK -- As yet more rain falls across Missouri and Illijnois, some rivers have yet to crest.

Another one to three inches of rain are expected across the region though Thursday night. This will cause rapid rises once again on the smallest creeks and streams as the ground is saturated. This may result in flash flooding and a good deal of standing water in poor drainage areas. A flash flood watch is in effect for most of the area through Thursday.

As this water flows into some of the larger creeks and smaller rivers which have already crested, those locations will again rise, but not as high as what we have seen.

On the larger rivers that are still rising, the additional rainfall will prolong the flooding and keep the rivers higher longer. All additional expected rainfall has been included in the current river forecasts.
