More thunderstorms develop Saturday afternoon

An additional 1" to 3" of rain is possible across the bi-state through Saturday night.

Heavy rain continues Saturday morning, with a short break between late morning and mid-afternoon with spot showers and cloudy skies.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Sunday morning for areas along and south of I-70 (including the St. Louis metro) where an additional 1" to 3" of rain is possible through late Saturday night.

Thunderstorms surge back northeast after 1-2 PM, with heavy rain returning to St. Louis and points south through early evening.

With ample wind shear and instability surging north across the area, and a warm front south of St. Louis, thunderstorms could become severe in the slight risk (yellow) or enhanced (orange) areas just inside the 5 On Your Side viewing area.

A marginal risk of severe storms is outlined south of I-70, and the severe risk increases heading south toward Paducah and the Missouri bootheel.

Damaging winds and large hail will be the main threats, along with heavy rain in stronger thunderstorms.

The bulk of the rain and storms out of the 5 On Your Side viewing area after midnight.
