During the month of July, you can pay down your library fines and help those in need all at the same time.

For the entire month, the St. Louis Public Library will be teaming up with the St. Louis Area Foodbank for their Food for Fines program. The library will remove one dollar of overdue fines from your account for each non-perishable food item donated, up to $25 per account.

This will be the 10th year in a row for the program. Last year, the library collected 14,567 pounds of food, which provided 11,891 meals for those in need.

Patrons who don't have any fines are also welcome to donate. Donations cannot be used to pay for lost or damaged items.

All St. Louis Public Library locations will be collecting donations. In addition to food, the library will be accepting donations of personal care items such as shampoo, toilet tissue and diapers.
