SEMO to cut 35-40 jobs due to budget reductions

The cuts aren't immediate, and all workers will get a five-month heads up.

Southeast Missouri State University said budget cuts are forcing school leaders to cut roughly three dozen jobs. That's about 4-percent of the school's full-time workforce.

In a press release. the school said some cuts will be in vacant positions, but about 20 to 25 will be current jobs. The school said none of the currently filled faculty positions will be cut at this time.

The cuts aren't immediate, and all workers will get a five-month heads up.

The school has a $6.6 million budget after a nine percent reduction in state appropriations.
