ST. LOUIS – More than 24 hours after the Park Warehouse caught fire, fight fighters were still pumping water on to the building.

Neighbors nearby were worried about health effects from the smoke.

"It was so thick," said John Goetschel who lives just south of the fire scene.

He spent all day preparing to move, family to Florida.

But, even today he was still worried about the smoke.

Smoke from the fire kept them inside for much of the day.

"Really hard to breathe in, more or less it was like you were standing in it," he said. "You can be two blocks away and it was still so thick.”

Goetschel is just about a football field away and breathing in the brunt of yesterday's heavy smoke has him concerned.

"Everybody is going to be wondering if this is going to have repercussions in a few months," he said. "Because nobody knows what was in there. Nobody said anything about staying far enough away, so we just stayed within the block."

He said what's happened over the past 24 hours makes the decision to move a lot easier.

"Because all of the stuff is inside the houses and some of the walls are going to be black when it's all over with," he said.

So, as he is readying to leave the neighborhood for good, he wasn’t just worried about himself, but also for the neighbors he leaves behind.

"I believe very unhealthy that's for sure.
