Two teens are dead and three are injured after a car collided with a tree over the weekend.
Police responded to a call on the 2500 block of Shannon Ave. in Jennings on Friday around 8:30 p.m. Officers found a car had collided with a tree with six passengers onboard.
One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, a 16-year-old boy. Another victim later died from his injuries, a 15-year-old. Both victims were sitting in the back seat at the time of the accident.
The driver of the car was a 16-year-old and was taken to a hospital for injuries.
Police believe only one of the passengers in the car was wearing their seatbelt. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but officials are blaming careless driving at high speeds.
