Warehouse fire levels family business, owners vow to keep working

"Everything in there was my life’s work," Angelina Twardawa said of her trucking company, Angie’s Transportation.

ST. LOUIS - 36 hours after the Park Warehouse Service caught fire, small business owners who worked inside are trying to figure out their next steps.

“Everything in there was my life’s work,” Angelina Twardawa said of her trucking company, Angie’s Transportation.

She and her brother started the company five years ago, when she was 19. Most of their operation is now in ashes, but they are still working. They’ve moved the business in with their parents.

“Our drivers are making deliveries 24/7 all over the country right now, we have to act fast,” Angie said.

Their fancy truck-tracking software is now a white board, and they still have to get the drivers’ payroll figured out before Friday.

“That’s also how we knew we had to keep running because they’re depending on us,” Angie said.

She says it’s a family business committed to treating their employees like family, no matter what.

“And we’re not going to let a little fire stop us from doing that either," she said.
