UPDATE: WB I-270 has reopened following a fatal accident.
WB I-270 at Old Halls Ferry was shut down just after 5 a.m. after a person was fatally struck by a vehicle.
The incident happened east of Old Halls Ferry and WB I-270 was closed for several hours. The pedestrian has been identified as Shantay Phillips, 36, of St. Louis.
According to the State Patrol, Phillips was crossing the highway from the south side to the north side when she was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle was partially blocking a lane and the right shoulder when a second vehicle also hit Phillips. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
