Settle down, Hiddleswifters and those on #TeamSWOKI: We're not talking about Tom Hiddleston tying the knot with new girlfriend Taylor Swift. (AREN'T THEY SO CUTE THOUGH?!)
This exclusive deleted scene from the biopic I Saw the Light (out Tuesday on Blu-ray and DVD) — starring Hiddleston as country legend Hank Williams — finds Hank sitting down at the dinner table with Billie Jean (Maddie Hasson), the 19-year-old he was engaged to after his wife Audrey (Elizabeth Olsen) divorced him, to talk about their future.
It's three weeks until the Big Day, and their wedding planner suggests they get hitched in New Orleans, "the city that knows about having a big time." When the dude drops the bomb about wanting to invite Hank's fans to buy tickets and attend the wedding, Billie Jean ain't having it. "Is this a joke?" she says through a forced smile — it is not a happy "Yay we're getting married in front of thousands" one. That kind of crazy spectacle might play in 2016 but not in the early 1950s.
Fun fact: In real life, Hank and Billie Jean married in private in Minden, La., on Oct. 18, 1952, and later exchanged their vows in public at two sold-out shows in New Orleans.
